ASKAROT AND MEMORIAL

As you walk into our Synagogue you will see the beautifully crafted memorial board, with the Tree of Life. Each plaque represents a leaf on the tree, and in the centre of the tree is a memorial light. We remember and honour the passing of our loved ones, both in our home and our Synagogue. Honouring your loved one, in your Synagogue preserves and shows respect to them and it also connects them to the Synagogue and community.

Donating to the Synagogue is the mitzvah of tzedakah – charity – and is one of the most important of the 613 mitzvot. By inscribing the leaf you are memorialising their name and also giving merit to their soul. Every mitzvah performed in their name moves their soul closer to Hashem. Each year, we will ensure prayers, an askarah, a memorial prayer, is said for your loved one on the anniversary of their passing. The Tree of Life is significant to us. By remembering and connecting with our past, we can strengthen as a community for today and for the future.

Please consider this important contribution to your Synagogue. The time to fulfil the mitzvah of tzedakah, giving merit to the departed, is now. There are only limited leaves available. The suggested contribution per leaf is $613, representing the 613 mitzvot in the Torah. Want to remember a loved one? Please complete this form.
